NAME: CAPARROTS OF SA POBLA

The big heads are part of the Sant Antoni festivities. They were introduced as a part of these festivities in 1952 and since then they are really typical of this village. On January 16th and 17th these big heads come alive. They dance at the Plaza Mayor listening to the song ‘’Yo y un pastor”. Sant Antoni is one of the most popular festivities since 1365. The Ximbomba, a musical instrument, encourages these festivities. The espinagada is the typical dish of the Sant Antoni festival.The rest of the year the big heads stay at the Sant Antoni Museum. This museum is located at Can Planes, 6 Antoni Maura.The big heads for children are part of the festivities since 1983. Alexander Cuéllar (1913-2006) was the promoter of the big heads festival. Cuéllar was the town clerk of Sa Pobla from 1943 until 1959.
