The tourist boom of the 60’s. Social and economic expansion in Europe meant more leisure time and better paid holidays.  Majorca was a very close and cheap tourist destination for Europeans. In 1960 Son SantJoan PalmaAirport was opened. It quickly became one of the most important in Europe.  In1960 the airport recorded 637.419 passengers movements. The tourism boom was the starting point of Majorca’s social and economic expansion. The increased demand meant an entire sector developement.The resorts are endowed with modern facilities. Water sports companies boosted their activity. Excursion programs grew dramatically. The nightclubs and evening entertainment flourished. The development of tourism activities meant wealth
