TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
NAME: THE MIRAMAR MONASTERY
The Miramar Monastery is located in the municipality of Deià, at 28 km from Palma, between Valldemossa and Deià. It was founded in 1276 by Ramon Llull to held a monastery. It was also a school dedicated to teaching oriental languages. You can not miss a visit to the ‘’ Torre del Moro ‘’ and the ‘’ Byzantine garden ‘’. There is a small library about Ramon Llull. In 1485 the first printing press in the island was installed there and in 1872 the ArchdukeLuis Salvador bought the old property. In the church stands a marble virgin, a present from Sissi as Empress Sissi visited Miramar in the winters of 1892 and 1893. It is a fantastic place to hold events and celebrations. It was declared Asset of Cultural Interest as historical heritage. Miramar was the first Archduke Luis Salvador’s design in Mallorca.
