San Carlos Military History Museum is located in the center of the cove of Porto Pi, in the bay of Palma de Mallorca. This is a historically strategic point in the defense of the city since the Middle Ages when sea trade was hit by pirate raids. What was originally a watchtower became over time in a castle which was built by Philip III in 1610, undergoing several expansions over successive years. Until 1980, the date from which its role was limited to Saved battery to greet warships of all nations, the fortress of San Carlos was artillery barracks and military prison.

Today, the museum has over a thousand square meters dedicated to military history of the Balearic Islands through a tour of different rooms that include a monographic exhibition of old weapons, furniture and military clothing from all eras, photographs, war models, maps, dioramas, etc..
