NAME: PEBRE BORD TAP OF CORTÍ

The Pebre bord tap of Cortí (paprika tap of Corti) is a kind of pepper which is just cultivated on the island of Majorca and it is responsible for giving the color, aroma and flavor to the typical Majorcan sobrasada.

 

It is also used in many dishes from the Balearics. Since ancient times, the Tap de Cortí pepper was grown in most of the Majorcan villages and, for fifteen days of summer, it was hanging from the facades of houses as long as it dry in the sun, giving a decorative touch to the Majorcan landscape .

 

Then the pepper was baked in an oven at low temperature in order to remove moisture and to facilitate the ground with the stone. It contains large amounts of vitamins, especially vitamin C, with high antioxidant power.
