NAME: SON MARROIG

The Son Marroig: Museum house is located in Valldemossa to Deià road. It is a private institution created in 1927. This house was owned by Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria. The Archduke (1847-1915) bought some properties in Mallorca. There is a museum devoted to this Austrian nobleman. Concerts and events take place at Son Marroig. Group guided tours for Schools and general public are available. Particularly noteworthy is the 16th century fortified tower. It was used to defend Mallorca against attacks from pirates. He restored the old house increasing it in the Italian style. He also built a small neo-classic temple made of Carrara marble. From the temple you can see La punta de Sa Foradada. That place offers a spectacular sight at sunset. With authorization, you can take the private way to Sa Foradada. Another amazing place is the Es Ganiller gazebo.
